About Us

In 1997, Caring Resources was birthed in response to an emerging and ever-growing concern of baby boomers—caring for aging or disabled spouses and parents. The initial project of this new focus  was the development of

Help! Where Are All My Papers?
A Practical Guide to Identify and Organize “Must-Know” Information
with Special Caregiver Information

This book has been a great resource for adult children as they became primary caregivers for aging parents.

The second project was the seminar, Help! Am I the Parent Now? Caring Resources has been providing Help! Am I the Parent Now? in churches, senior service organizations, and senior facilities since 1999. Caregivers learn strategies and are provided tools to deal more effectively with the emotional and practical aspects of caring for their loved one(s). In 2006, this material was modified and presented as the Effective Caregiving Series, which is available on DVD.

In response to the devastating loss experienced by caregivers, seniors, and ultimately everyone, Caring Resources developed and began conducting HOPE (Helping Overcome Painful Experiences) in 1999. Due to the growing popularity of these workshops, the help and healing received by the participants of all ages, Caring Resources has made the workshop available on DVD.

Another vital component of Caring Resources is that of an intergenerational prayer ministry or VIP (Victory in Prayer). VIP gives a sense of purpose and value to the elderly, helping them overcome isolation through the development of relationships with younger generations. VIP is also a ministry to young people as they are trained to bridge the gap between generations, to overcome fear in relating to the elderly, to learn care-giving strategies for the growing elderly population, and to see the power of prayers shared and answered.

Caring Resources was recognized as a 501 (c)(3) organization on June 5, 2003, due to the gift of an attorney, who had specifically benefited from our services. She strongly felt that Caring Resources should be given the opportunity to serve many others who needed the tools and strategies she learned.

In addition to the services and products listed above, Caring Resources offers additional topical material including:

  • Dealing With Divorce
  • Power in Planning
  • Holiday Depression
  • Dealing With Difficult People
  • Preparing For Crisis
  • Elder Abuse Crisis
  • Making Peace With Your Parent
  • Inter-Family Strategy Session
  • How to Start a Support Group

Our Founders

Farrar Moore and Sheryl Cook have been providing “Help! Am I the Parent Now?” seminars in local churches and senior facilities in the Middle Tennessee area since 1997. Statistics such as, “by the year 2040, twelve million people will be unable to live without caregivers in their life, and an additional forty-two million will be dependent upon assistance,” reveal the critical need for caregiver education and support.

Farrar and Sheryl both have family caregiving experience. They have provided end-of-life support and care for grandparents and parents. Farrar Moore and Sheryl Cook have also been providing HOPE Workshops through the YMCA and local churches in the Middle Tennessee area since 1999. This biblically-based workshop guides participants in a process that helps them eliminate the sense of hopelessness and inability to move on with their lives due to any unforgiveness and bitterness that robs them of the peace and joy Jesus died for them to enjoy.

Farrar and Sheryl are gifted teachers, authors, facilitators and mentors. Sheryl has a graduate degree in Education from Middle Tennessee State University and is a Certified Grief Recovery Counselor. Farrar, also a Certified Grief Recovery Counselor, has a graduate degree in Biblical Counseling from Trinity Seminary.
